Summer may be winding down but that doesn't mean we are. It has been a busy month already with A Sheperd's Retreat kicking things off. Friday in Pro-Novice, Cindy Baker and Gibz placed fourth and Lisa Berglund and Joe placed seventh in the first round. Lorri Shubert and Hattie took first in the second round followed by Lisa and Joe in third. Members Paul Murray and Don placed second on Saturday in the Open class, followed by Ellice Freas with Ellen in fourth and Lorri Schubert and Tess in fifth. Lisa Berglund and Amos rounded out the top ten with their run. Sunday Paul Murray and Don returned to place third in Open. Congratulations to all of our handlers and their dogs. Sheperd's will return to the post this September 8th. Make sure to follow on our events page and register for the Sheperd's Winter Series starting November 11th! We will see you out there!
Our handlers were at it again last weekend running at Fecht Farms. Friday Laura Vishoot took second with Pearl and fifth with Brix in the Open class. Jennifer Coleman and Emma finished sixth. Sunday Lisa Berglund and Joe returned to the post for a second place in round one and another second pace in round two in Pro-Nov.
Laura Vishoot and Snoop had two great runs taking third in round one and first place in round two. Congrats to Laura and Snoop! Paul Stauffer and Jiggs finished with a hard earned third. Congrats to Paul and Jiggs. For more photos check out the shared gallery.
Before the month comes to an end we have one more event up our sleeve. Tuesday August 29th members will be hosting a free webinar to answer questions and give tips for new handlers heading to the post. Share your questions, tips and experiences in our new forum, Stock Dog Talk, and tune in live at 7pm Pacific time. In conjunction with the new handlers webinar, OSDS will be hosting an Encourager Trial Saturday, September 30th at Brigand's Hideout. We could not be more excited to offer an opportunity for newer handlers to get out and start testing their skills. Registrations are currently open and can be found on our events page.
Next month marks the start of this years Fido's Farm series. Make sure to mark your calendars for this years events. We will be kicking off their season Labor Day weekend. This year we will also be hosting our Year End Awards at Fido's. We would like to welcome everyone out to work dogs and enjoy some great food while we hand out our awards November 5th. Our final big announcement for the moment is our next webinar with sheperdess, trainer and author Emma Gray! Join live October 17th at 11am Pacific time to talk to Emma about sheep herding, training dogs and her move to the Isle of Bute. Emma is the author of One Girl and Her Dogs: Life, Love and Lambing in the Middle of Nowhere and My Farming Life. She is an accomplished dog trainer and trialist and we are looking forward to having a conversation with her about our two favorite things. Sheep and dogs.
