Sorry for the spring time snooze! May was a big month in the community! We are excited to see lots of lambs and everyone getting out and supporting our trials!
This May Chris Soderstrom of Fido's Farm held its annual Memorial Day weekend trial! On Friday in Open, Anne Charlton took first and second with her dogs Shea and Gem. Kent Bradley and Bobby Blue took third followed by Amanda Jones and Dan in fourth. Amelia Smith and Gem finished in fifth and last years Pro-Novice champs Karyl Hansen and Betelgeuse finished in sixth! In Friday's Nursery class Bob Dias and Cai earned first, Christie True and Coop took second and Misti Chastain and Sprite took third. Way to go baby dogs!
In Pro-Novice Saturday, Christie True and Coop took first this time, Lisa Charaba and Gin took second, Diane Dixon Johnson and Ryder took third, Laurie Hamilton and Jan took fourth and Debbie Powell and Nell took fifth. Saturday's Open class was won by Anne Charlton and Shea, Norm Rivers and Blake took second and Amanda Jones and Dan took third. Amelia Smith and Gem took fourth followed by Diane Mitchell and Luke in fifth!
On Saturday, Bob Dias and Cai returned to take first again in Nursery followed by Christie True and Coop in second, Bob Dias and Meadow in third and Misti Chastain and Sprite in fourth. In Saturday's Pro-Novice Lisa Charaba and Gin took first! Cindy Baker and Cash took second, Christie True and her young dog Coop took third, Bob Dias and his young dog took fourth and Jeanne Boudrieau and Mac took fifth.
On Sunday our Novice handlers took a turn at the post. Jodi DeBoer and Hank took first, Quinn Vining and Pemaquid took second, Gretchen Rose and Eleanor took third and Reyna Parcells and Havie took fourth.
In Pro-Novice OSDS members Lori Mannas with Bram won first place and Sarah Vining with Pemaquid won second. Nora Linbo and Kirk took third, Laurie Hamilton and Jan took fourth and Nora Linbo and her young girl Tori took fourth.

Power house Geri Byrnes and Mark Shepard hosted back to back trials the last week of May and the first weekend of June including a fun fest week two complete with handlers dancing to their theme songs on their way to the post in Open. We don't know how she does it, but she managed to pull off two fields running seamlessly with fantastic sheep and a spectacular view.
Nursery and Pro-Novice were judged by Ellen Skillings. Weekend one Running S results for Nursery were Suzy Applegate taking first and second with Flo and Ruby, Dianne Deal took third with her young dog Ziva, and Rob Miller with KC came in fourth.
Second round of Nursery Suzy Applegate and Flo were first, Rob Miller and KC second, Tierney Graham and Junior third and Suzy Applegate and Ruby in fourth.
In Pro-Novice, OSDS member and last years Pro-Novice reserve Raenell Doyle and Jolie finished in first! Tierney Graham and Junior finished in second, Shane Harley and Beth took third and Dianne Deal and Jazz took fourth. On Sunday, Julie Grenfell and Chance took first, Lee Lumb and Joe took second, Gloria Atwater and Sam took third and Jo Roach and Paddy took fourth! Both weekends handlers enjoyed some potluck fun catching up in the community.
State of Jefferson Nursery winners were Suzy Applegate and Flo in first, Dianne Deal and Jazz in second, Haley Hunewill and Quinn in third and Bob Dias and Cai in fourth. Round two was Audrey Baldessari and Atomic Atomic in first, Dianne Deal and Jazz in second, Misti Chastain and her mighty Sprite in third and Rob Miller in fourth! Week two Pro-Novice winners were Beth Benz with Tova, Lee Lumb with Joe in second, Gloria Atwater with Sam in third and Anne Leroux with Loki in fourth. Pro-Novice week two stockmanship was at its best with Lee Lumb and Joe in first, Bob Dias and Cai in second, Gloria Atwater and Sam in third and Dave Viklund and Tate in fourth! Congrats to all on all the great work!
Running S Open results day one were judged by Dianne Deal with Suzy Applegate and Bella in first, Angie Untisz and Chap in second, David Lee Johnson and Midge in third and Audrey Baldessari and Nutmeg in fourth and Barb McPherson and Pi in fifth. Day two judged by Shane Harley was Suzy Applegate and Bella in first again, David Lee Johnson and Midge in second, Ellen Skillings and Toss in third, and Suzy Applegate and Ben in fourth and Dianne Deal and Nan in fifth. Round three was judged by David Lee Johnson with Lee Lumb in first with Dez, Dianne Deal and Nan in second, Tierney Graham and Molli in third and Lee Lumb and Colt in fourth and Laura Vishoot and Pearl in fifth. The fourth and final class was judged by John Fontaine with Lee Lumb and Colt throwing it down for first, Paul Murray and Don finishing second, Victoria Yablonsky and Tweedale Ted in third and Bryan White and Nan in fourth. Lorrie Shubert and her young dog Hattie took fifth!
State of Jefferson's first Open class was judged by Mr. Don Helsley with Lee Lumb and Max in first, Lee Lumb and Dez in second, Dianne Deal and Nan in third, Bill Crawford and Dot in third and David Lee Johnson and Midge in fourth.
Saturday's class was judged by Shane Harley with Haley Hunewill and Jak in first, Lee Lumb and Dez in second, Suzy Applegate and Ben in third, Lori Morris and BC Blake in fourth and Jo Roach and River in fifth.
Sunday's Open was judged by Lee Lumb with Haley Hunewill and Jak in first, Suzy Applegate and Ben in second, David Lee Johnson and Chase in third, Michael Meredith and Jace in fourth and Erin Swanson and AZ Kate in fifth. Whew! Lots of runs, large classes and a lot of good work! Congrats to all!
